QR Code Link to This Post I'm here to offer my services as an editor and literary mentor to people who really want to improve their creative writing in a personalized setting. I am a professional editor as well as publisher. I have an MFA in Writing from a prominent creative writing program and a MA in English Lit. A BA from UPenn in English and have studied with editors from major houses (U. Mich Press, Penguin, FSG). I work in all genres, fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, memoir, essay and reporting. This is something I love to do.

What I offer:
I tailor my services to your personal needs and get to know you and your motivations as a writer and creative mind. This is a highly personalized relationship that I invest in order to deliver targeted and tailored feedback. It's like being in writing school and having a personal editor at the same time.

Generally speaking, we meet bi-monthly via skype for 60-90 minutes to discuss all aspects of writing. My clients submit their writing twice a month or as needed and receive pointed, dynamic and honest feedback on their work. We talk about it in depth and formulate strategies and goals. I help on craft and execution as well as creativity, and once we have those things working, I help to navigate the submission landscape and to get the work into the right home. It's a highly immersive relationship where I spend time getting to know you and your work so that I can best help to bring it to fruition. We talk about philosophy, character theory, defamiliarization, classics, contemporary authors, trends, business and anything that's relevant. I also assign reading as necessary and my people have access to me 24-7 via text and phone. The rate for this is $250 per month. I also work with people at 4x a month or 1x month depending on circumstances.

More options;
Editing. I take on projects a la carte on occasion at a rate of $45/hr negotiable depending on the work.

A little more about me and what I offer:
I'm the managing editor at a major literary magazine, Fjords Review, in 1200 bookstores across 5 countries. I'm an uncredited consulting editor at numerous other journals (Pank, Carbon Culture, Fields, Quiet Lunch). I'm also the director of C&R Press, a midsize independent publishing house that puts out 20 books a year. I go to all major book fairs and writing conferences and have 50+ authors who I develop and edit at the press. I also freelance agent and have sold titles recently to Random House and Simon and Schuster and Red Hen Press. I wear many hats and have my hand in every aspect of the business. This, I think, gives me a unique point of reference with regard to mentoring other writers.

Please get in contact if you have any questions. I offer a free 10 minute phone consultation or for $25 a half hour skype editorial session.

I have many references available upon request.

Thanks so much. All the best and happy writing.

Warmly,
Andrew
